Creating a Share Link
Overview
Share links let anyone view your document without needing a clarife account. Each link has a unique URL and can be customized with access controls, view styles, and branding options.
ℹ️ Info: Free plan users can create up to 3 active share links. Pro and Business plans have unlimited shares.
How to Create a Share Link
- Open your document — Navigate to the document you want to share in the editor.
- Click the Share button — In the editor toolbar, click Share. The sharing panel opens.
- Generate the link — Click Create share link. clarife generates a unique URL for your document.
- Configure options — Choose your view style and toggle branding visibility. You can also add access controls (password, email gate, expiry) — see the other sharing guides.
- Copy and send — Click the copy icon to copy the link to your clipboard. Send it to your audience via email, chat, or any other channel.
View Styles
When creating a share link, you can choose between 2 view styles:
| Style | Description |
|---|---|
| Document | Full scrollable document view — best for tutorials and guides |
| Presentation | Slide-based view with navigation — best for step-by-step walkthroughs |
Branding Toggle
The Show branding toggle controls whether the clarife logo appears on your shared document. On the Business plan, your own branding replaces the clarife logo when enabled.
| Plan | Show branding ON | Show branding OFF |
|---|---|---|
| Free | clarife branding | clarife branding (cannot hide) |
| Pro | clarife branding | No branding |
| Business | Your custom branding | No branding |
Managing Share Links
- Disable a link — toggle the share off to immediately revoke access. The URL stops working.
- Re-enable — toggle back on. The same URL works again.
- Delete — permanently removes the share. A new link will have a different URL.
Can I share multiple documents with one link?
No. Each share link corresponds to one document. To share multiple documents, create a separate link for each.
Does the share link update when I edit the document?
Yes. The share link always shows the latest version of your document. There is no need to create a new link after editing.
What happens if I hit the 3-link limit on the Free plan?
You will need to delete an existing share before creating a new one, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited shares.
Can viewers download or copy my document?
Viewers can see the document and navigate it, but there is no built-in download button on the share page. They could use browser tools to save the page, but the original editable document remains yours.
