Accessing settings
Click the tray icon and select Settings (or use the gear icon) to open the companion app settings panel.

ℹ️ Info: PNG is lossless; JPEG produces smaller files. You choose the format in settings, and for JPEG you can adjust the quality.
Keyboard shortcuts
Configure global keyboard shortcuts for quick capture in all three modes:
| Action | Default shortcut |
|---|---|
| Fullscreen capture | Ctrl+Shift+1 (customizable) |
| Window capture | Ctrl+Shift+2 (customizable) |
| Region capture | Ctrl+Shift+3 (customizable) |
To change shortcuts:
- Open Settings - Click the tray icon and select Settings.
- Go to the Shortcuts section - Open the keyboard shortcuts section.
- Record a new shortcut - Click the shortcut field and press your desired key combination. The new shortcut is saved immediately.
⚠️ Warning: Make sure your chosen shortcut does not conflict with system shortcuts (macOS or Windows) or other applications. If a conflict exists, the shortcut may not work.
Account & Sync
Sign in with your clarife account so your captures sync automatically to your account and become available in the web editor. See the Sync article for details.
How do I change the language?
Open Settings and select your preferred language (English or Polish) from the Language dropdown. The change applies immediately - no restart required.
Where is the settings file stored?
On macOS settings are stored in ~/Library/Application Support/app.clarife.capture/ - deleting this folder resets all settings. On Windows (Microsoft Store version) app data lives in the system app container and is removed automatically on uninstall.
Can I reset all settings to defaults?
There is no reset button in the UI. To reset, quit the app, delete the configuration folder, and relaunch.
My keyboard shortcut doesn't work
Ensure the shortcut is not used by another app or the system. Try a different combination. On macOS also verify that clarife capture has Accessibility permissions in System Settings > Privacy & Security (no additional permissions are required on Windows).
