Knowledge Base overview

What is a Knowledge Base

A Knowledge Base turns your shared tutorials into a public help portal — with a category tree, search, and your branding. Instead of sending individual links, you give your audience one address where they find all your documentation:

https://clarife.app/kb/your-slug

Every entry in a Knowledge Base is an existing share link. You publish a document the way you always do, then add it to the base with one click — the content stays in one place, updated in the editor.

ℹ️ Info: Knowledge Base is available on the Business plan.

What it's good for

  • Help center — Product documentation for customers — with categories and search.
  • Team knowledge base — Internal procedures and how-tos behind an email verification gate.
  • Customer onboarding — Structured onboarding guides under a single address.

Key features

  • Category tree — up to 3 levels of nesting, with icons and colors.
  • Search — covers titles, descriptions, and article content, with partial-word matching.
  • Public or internal access — open to everyone, or behind email verification.
  • Branding — logo and accent color from your branding repository.
  • Custom domain — the base also works under your own domain at the /kb/... path.
  • API and MCP — manage the base programmatically or through an AI agent.

💡 Tip: Multiple bases come in handy for multilingual documentation — each base has one content language, so e.g. an English and a Polish version are two separate bases.

Getting started

  1. Create a base — In the dashboard, open Knowledge Base and walk through the creator — creating a base.
  2. Add categories and entries — Build the structure and attach your shared documents — categories and entries.
  3. Configure access — Decide whether the base is public or behind email verification — access and gates.
  4. Share the address — Send your audience the clarife.app/kb/your-slug link, or use your custom domain.

Is entry content copied into the base?

No. An entry points to an existing share link — when you update the document in the editor, the changes show up in the Knowledge Base right away.

What happens to the base if I downgrade?

Knowledge Base requires the Business plan. After a downgrade the public address stops serving content — your configuration is kept and comes back when you return to Business.

Can workspace members manage the base?

Yes — members with the Manage Knowledge Base permission can edit the workspace owner's bases. You grant the permission in team settings.

Is the Knowledge Base indexed by Google?

You decide with the indexing toggle in the base settings — see appearance and domain.
