Importing from Word (DOCX)

Already have instructions written in Word? Import them into clarife - a .docx file becomes a document with steps, images and tables, ready to edit, share or turn into a video.

1. Open the dashboard - in your personal view, click the Import DOCX button next to 'New Document'.
2. Add the file - click the file field or drag and drop a .docx file.
3. Decide about AI assist - with 'Organize structure with AI' checked, AI splits the content into steps. You can uncheck it.
4. Click 'Import' - after a moment the document opens in the editor.

ℹ️ Note: Import creates a private document in your account. You can move it to a team workspace after importing.

Company instructions are often written as one long block of text - no headings, no clear steps. With AI assist enabled, clarife:

• splits the text into numbered steps and sections with headings,
• places each image next to the step it illustrates,
• suggests a document title and description,
• detects the content language (Polish or English).

An import with AI assist uses 1 AI assist action from your monthly pool. Importing without AI is free.

ℹ️ Note: If AI restructuring fails, the document is still created - without structure changes - and no assist action is used.

• headings and text (with bold, lists and links),
• images in PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP formats,
• tables and code blocks,
• separators - each image becomes its own step separated by a divider.

⚠️ Warning: When the text exceeds 24,000 characters, you'll see a prompt with a choice: import without AI assist or split the file into smaller parts.

Import supports .docx files only. For an older Word file (.doc), .rtf or .odt, open it in Word and save it as .docx ('File' → 'Save As').

⚠️ Warning: Images in EMF/WMF formats (pasted in older versions of Word) are skipped during import - a message after the import shows how many were skipped. Re-insert them in the editor as PNG or JPEG.
